What’s your favourite animal at the zoo? I’d have a pretty hard time deciding between the penguins and the giraffes. And after a trip to Bristol Zoo’s Wild Place Project I’d have to add Lemurs to the mix too!

The Tin Box girls and I were invited to a bloggers event at the Wild Place Project by the lovely folks at Trunki. Read on for a chance to win your own Kids Trunki Suitcase and Family Pass to the Wild Place Project.

Trunki are working with the Wild Place Project to raise £750,000 for a new giraffe house and fund conservation work in the wild. Here’s why:

About the Wild Place Project

The Wild Place Project is more like a safari park than a zoo, with environments set up to make the animals feel at home. Spread across several acres you will find cheetahs, wolves, and reindeer as well as zebra, meerkats and lemurs.

We were treated to a couple of animal talks during our visit, hearing from the Wild Place Project’s expert zoo keepers about the habits of the animals in the wild and why conservation work is so necessary.

Tin Box Tot enjoyed seeing the animals, but like any toddler, she also loved the numerous indoor and outdoor playgrounds around the park.

On the day we visited there were two new additions to the lemur community – a pair of twins born to the lead female lemur, Dizzy. We even got a glimpse of them while the lemurs were being fed. They were super cute and full of character.

I was too busy cooing to get a picture of the babies but here they are captured by a pro.

The Giraffe House Appeal

Sadly we couldn’t see any giraffes during our visit because the existing giraffe house is in a poor state and needs replacing. Hence the appeal.

Did you know that in the past 15 years giraffe numbers have fallen from 140,000 to less than 80,000? There are now fewer giraffe left in the wild than African elephants.

To support the Wild Place Project’s Giraffe House Appeal, Trunki has launched a new design – Gerry the Giraffe Trunki – and will be donating £5 for every suitcase sold to Bristol Zoo to help support its appeal and conservation work in Africa.

We had a fantastic day out with Trunki and would like to thank them for the fantastic Trunki goodies they gave to Tin Box Tot and Baby. It’s all going to come in very handy during our travels this summer. Here’s Tin Box Tot riding Bernard the Trunki.
