Stuck for what to get your kids this Christmas? Let’s face it, after the year we’ve all had it’s got to be special! So, why not give them a Christmas experience in 2020 rather than another toy! In this post I’ve included some of the best UK Christmas days out with kids in 2020.

One of the nation’s most authentic Christmas experiences has to be LaplandUK. Here’s a review by the PODcast family who visited in 2016 and another by Kaz from Ickle Pickle’s Life and Travels who visited in the same year.

The magic of Christmas at LEGOLAND
Families have have a festive experience at Legoland this Christmas with rides, characters and LEGO® builds. The highlight of your day will be meeting Father Christmas in his magical grotto.
Once he’s checked his list twice, each child will receive a special LEGO gift.

The sell-out trail returns for a fourth year to this historic National Trust property. Look out for the giant glittering deer as you step into a world festooned with seasonal cheer where huge snowflakes create an aerial kaleidoscope over the Gardens and pause for a moment of quiet reflection at the crystal and fire garden, aglow with hundreds of flickering flames.

Once again the zoo will be transformed into a spectacular wonderland, full of sparkle, delight, a sprinkling of snow and some unexpected festive encounters.

Ice skating and Christmas Fayre at The Eden Project
The Eden Project’s annual ice rink returns in 2020. The number of skaters on the ice for each 40 minute session has been reduced for social distancing.
Book your session in advance and in addition to your entrance ticket to The Eden Project. Family skating sessions take place each morning with skating aids.
The Christmas Fairy will also take place on 11 and 12 November 2020.

Santa’s Polar Express at Slieve Donard Resort & Spa
Polar Express is a fun festive occasion with a host of attractions for all the family, including a winter wonderland, story-telling with Mrs Claus and the Polar Express train adventure which will take guests on a magical journey to visit Santa and his elves in their busy workshop as they prepare for their busiest time of the year.
The set-up of the much-loved family event will remain the same, but Hastings Hotels has introduced a number of new health and safety measures including reduced numbers of guests per time slot in line with social distancing and allocated seating on the train.

Bournemouth’s Christmas Tree Wonderland 2020 has been postponed. A scaled-back alpine event is planned with fewer festive stalls and a smaller alpine bar. The illuminated nativity tree will be there. Bournemouth’s Christmas Tree Wonderland will be back in 2021.

Now established as a firm family tradition, the new trail for 2020 will showcase a botanical world festooned with seasonal cheer, with bouncing lines of light in the laser garden and giant luminescent sculptures rising high into the night sky. Drive through Christmas at Conifox Adventure Park
Conifox Adventure Park will see the return of its sell-out Christmas experience this December, but with a ‘2020’ twist. Due to ‘elf’-and-safety, visitors will now meet Santa and his gang in an utterly enchanting drive-thru experience, delighting in the highly anticipated winter-wonderland, but at a safe distance.
You will drive through the park stopping at various points to enjoy scenes and actors in the toy workshop, the reindeer flying school, Mrs Claus’ Kitchen, the enchanted forest and most importantly, Santa’s living room, where you will meet the big man himself.

This fun trail will be running through the shops of Crouch End from 10am until 5pm the Sunday and Monday before Christmas. It follows the story of a naughty elf who has ripped up Santa’s map and hidden it around the town in a bid to destroy Christmas!
The children’s task is to find all pieces of the maps with the clues and hints their trail pack, before a final meet and greet with Santa to fix the map and save the day!

Santa Special at North Yorkshire Moors Railway
Help Santa save Christmas at North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Hop aboard a heritage steam engine at the beautifully decorated Pickering Station for a magical Christmas adventure.

Lotherton Hall puts on a magical Christmas experience. Meet Santa, Snowy Flake and his friends in their elven bivouac under the magical wishing tree for stories and elf tales. Visit Dizzy Bells in Reindeer Emporium and take home some magical reindeer feed for Rudolph on Christmas Eve.
Pop by and say hello to Postmaster Pippin McJingles in Ye Olde Post Office Central to ensure your letter to Santa is safely on its way. Finally meet the main man himself in Santa’s Cabin for a special Christmas one to one, and a little present for the journey home.

Lightwater Valley Alice in Winterland illuminations
There will be an Alice in Winterland giant lantern trail in the park with displays including the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and, of course, Alice herself.
Families can also enjoy some traditional fairground fun including a spin on the carousel and take to the night sky on the Skyrider. There will also be a Christmas themed UV puppet show, Santa’s workshop and Santa Express.
