There are so many incredible places to visit in Greece with kids. Whether you want to build sandcastles on some of the Ionian Sea’s most stunning beaches, discover ancient sights where European civilisation was born, wander the streets of picture perfect harbour villages, or go snorkelling in azure seas; Greece has it all.
We’ve visited Greece a couple of times with out girls but have only just scratched the surface of what it has to offer as a European sun destination.
Find out what we managed to squeeze into a week exploring Chania in Crete with kids.
To bring together a taster of where else you should visit in Greece with kids I’ve asked some of my blogging friends for inspiration from their Greek travel.

Corfu with kids
Cathy from Mummytravels recommends following in the footsteps of the Durrells with a visit to Corfu. See the Venetian fortress of Corfu Town for incredible views of the Ionian Sea and a taste of 15th Century life when the Venetian empire made its mark on Greece.

Kefalonia with kids
Carrie from Flying With A Baby says Argostoli in Kefalonia is the place to visit in Greece if you want to see Loggerhead turtles. They hang around the harbour here.
You can see more of the marine life by taking a glass bottom boat trip.

If history is more your thing then Cerys from Travelled So Far recommends a visit the Roman Cemetery at Fiskardo. It was discovered in 2006 and dates from 146BC to 330AD.

Koufonisia with kids
Clare from Suitcases and Sandcastles says you want to get off the beaten track and find a Greek Island that’s quiet even in the summer, then this is it.
You can reach Koufonisia by ferry from Naxos or Mykonos. Walking or cycling is the mode of transport here, and it’s how you’ll find yourself at a stunning natural swimming pool in the rocks in-between the beaches of Italida and Pori.

Zakynthos with kids
Ting who writes My Travel Monkey says a must visit on the Island are the Blue Caves, which you can reach by boat. The caves are so extraordinary because of the reflections of the sun off the seafloor onto the white limestone roof.

Athens with kids
No visit to Athens would be complete without seeing the Acropolis, but Kirstie from Family Adventure Project says plan your visit ahead, especially if you are short on time. If you are in Athens for a few days consider getting a multi-site ticket to avoid the queues.
Take a look at the best time to visit the Acropolis.
Crete with kids
Visiting Europe’s oldest city, Knosses, is a must when in Crete according to Susanna from A Modern Mother. It’s one of the best ruins you will see here and dates back a remarkable 4,000 years.
Check out these tips for visiting the Palace of Knosses.
We can also suggest plenty of other things to do in Crete with kids.
Lefkada with kids
Karen from Mini Travellers says if you want to relax on one of Greece’s top beaches then head to Porto Katsiki on Lefkada. There are 99 steps to the beach so it’s not for the faint hearted, but plan what you are taking with you on this stunning beach day and it is do-able with kids.
