Earlier this month we were invited to stay at Bath Mill Lodge Retreat just outside Bath in Somerset. It was the perfect base to explore this UNESCO city. On the last day of our weekend it was the Bath Half Marathon which meant it was impossible to continue sightseeing in the heart of the city….
There’s nothing I love more than heading off on a new adventure. But sometimes it’s good to be at home, reflect, enjoy each other’s company and to plan for future trips. That’s what February was all about. We didn’t travel (well, not as a family) but I still have lots of fond memories and feel…
It’s incredible to think we’re already one month into 2017. The eagle-eyed among my readers will have noticed I skipped this regular feature in December in order to share a round up of the year. I’m very pleased to be back into the routine of recording our travels and adventures. This will be a bumper…
A year ago we visited our first National Trust property for years and haven’t looked back. The combination of children’s treasure trails, wide open spaces and houses packed full of curiosities has been a winning one as our girls start to explore the world around them. We visited the National Trust country house and subtropical landscape during the opening weekend of Coleton Aglow. Here’s a video about…
It seems very strange to think we’ve already reached the final month of 2016. Surely it was only yesterday that we moved to Devon and I decided to start logging all the little and large things happening in our lives in this monthly roundup. I know for a fact that I’ve said ‘things have been…
October is such a fun month. By now I’ve gotten over the end of the summer and can allow myself to enjoy everything that autumn brings here in the UK: the vibrant colours in nature, harvest inspired events and spooky half term fun. We’ve been taking in all of these things both in our on…
There’s plenty of Halloween family fun going on in South Devon this autumn half term. The local tourism bods have put together a long list of activities to keep kids and parents entertained during the holidays so check it out if you’re in the area and in need of inspiration. In 2016 we were invited…
When we visited Barcelona with kids for the first time we aimed to see as much of the city as we could on a budget. We spent most of our 48 hours in the city enjoying the free sights and soaking up the atmosphere of the beautiful Catalan capital by doing a lot of walking. However, we…
