The season for dewy wanders and muddy hikes is back, so it’s time to rethink our footwear and step into something more robust for Winter walks. This inevitably means a new pair of boots for the kids, who have both had a growth spirt since Spring.

This winter, and others come to think of it, we’ve bought the girls Regatta wellie boots* for forest school and general splashing about on wet days.
They are waterproof to the max. But when it comes to covering distance they aren’t very supportive. So having another set of footwear for coast and moor walks is a must.
Luckily, before we hit our local outdoor shops, we received an email from Regatta asking us whether we’d like to review some of their Regatta Kids’ Edgepoint Waterproof Mid Walking Boots.
Regatta Kids’ Edgepoint Waterproof Mid Walking Boots
These mini versions of Regatta’s adults’ Edgepoint walking boots are designed to stand up to wet weather and uneven terrain.
They are waterproof and water repelling, so toes stay dry, and they have a padded collar and tongue to keep these common rub points comfortable.
Little feet are supported by a moulded EVA footbed, the breathable inner material keeps whiffs at bay and there’s plenty of grip on the soles.
There are three colours: Deep Space Imperial Blue*, Briar Electric Lime* and Granite Brandied Apricot*. There’s a subtle splash of colour in the laces, webbing and inner.
While the girls would prefer something brighter coloured on their feet, from a practical point of view they are going to stay smart for longer.
Be aware that all Edgepoint walking boots are lace up. So younger kids will need a hand getting them on unless they are aces with laces.
They are available in sizes from UK 9 Junior to UK 6.

Putting these boots to the test
We’re spoilt for choice for coast and country walks around Devon (and while visiting family in Hampshire). So we’ve had the girls’ boots out in all conditions.
They’ve loved wearing them for trips to the beach, stomps through woods and wanders around town.
They are now our go-to footwear for when the skies are grey or the girls fancy investigating a puddle. They are definitely going to grow out of them before they wear out.
Sorry wellies – I think you’ll be staying at school!
