A scorcher of a weekend in Newbury

Sharing is caring!

Someone has been paying their dues to the weather Gods as we’ve been enjoying some scorching trips away recently. Last weekend we pitched up on a rally at Newbury Rugby Club.

The rally had been organised to coincide with the Summer Solstice and some of our more enthusiastic neighbours were up to see dawn on the Saturday. Tin Box Tot made sure we were awake not long after!
Newbury Rugby Club is a new venue for the West Hampshire Centre of the Caravan Club. The caravans were parked on one of the practice pitches a little way from the club house, with plenty of room for about 50 units. As you would expect, we didn’t need leveling blocks this weekend.
We visited Newbury town centre on Saturday morning, where Mr Tin Box was keen to find a cycling shop to get some spare parts for his commuting bike. We didn’t find the parts he was after but almost bought a very snazzy looking balance bike for TBT. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view and the size of your wallet), her legs are still a bit too short.
In the afternoon we joined our fellow ralliers for Pimms O’Clock and nibbles in the baking sunshine. Just one drink was enough to make us feel suitably relaxed. TBT made sure she got a good few fists full of the snacks. It would have probably been sensible for Mr TB and I to have done the same!
As mummy and daddy were not much fun for the rest of the day, TBT decided to hit the paddling pool to cool off.
She was one tired little lady by bed time and made up for rising early on Saturday by giving us a lovely Sunday morning lay in. Thank goodness for fresh air and sunshine!
