This bank holiday weekend was a bit of a departure for the Tin Box household. Instead of taking away our caravan we threw up a tent in the garden instead.
It may have just been a beach tent but it was a tent no less and allowed us to take part in the Caravan Club and Woodland Trust’s first ever
Big Little Tent Festival.
The aim was to encourage families to step away from their tech and enjoy some good old fashioned outdoor fun. We do this a lot in Tin Box but with a rare bank holiday weekend at home it was a novelty to give it a go in our own back garden.
With a beach tent rather than a proper waterproofed version we were never going to be able to camp out properly, but a lot of people did. It was fun following their back garden adventures on Twitter and
Instagram.
Our Big Little Tent Festival included a teddy bears picnic and treasure hunt. Tin Box tot helped to prepare the treasure hunt map but was still a little too young to understand how to follow it to find her treasure. Never-the-less she had fun being outdoors.
Here’s a few pictures from our garden festival:

Disclosure: I came across the Big Little Tent Festival online and loved the idea so much that I decided to write about it here. I haven’t been asked promote it but I was sent a festival pack by the friendly people at The Caravan Club. All views are my own.
Looks like great fun, such sweet photos. We ended up having an indoor picnic with a quick trip to the park in between the showers! #sharewithme
This looks so lovely and inviting, and like lots of fun. Makes me want to do something like that in our garden, too! #ShareWithMe
What a lovely idea – and how cute are the festival wristbands on the bears!
That looks like so much fun! I love the wristbands on the teddies and the bunting, you've inspired me now although with summer pretty much over it might have to be an indoor festival!
Ahh this is fantastic. Looks like so much fun was being made too. Thank you ever so much for linking up to Share With Me. I hope to see you again soon. I apologize for my late commenting, just catching up on a hectic week. I appreciate all the blog support. Look forward to reading more of your SWM link ups. #sharewithme
We got lucky on the Saturday of the bank holiday but on the Sunday the weather came in. Typical August bank holiday – such a shame x
I know and not my idea at all. Tin Box Tot was keen to involve her fluffy friends 🙂
Do it! We had good fun and might recreate the experience a few times while the weather is with us 🙂
I reckon an indoor festival is just as good. We are meant to be having an Indian summer though so don't give on the idea of a tent yet 🙂
I know that feeling! It's fantastic that so many people are sharing with you. It must take over a bit x
