Best Greek Island holidays for families in 2020
After experiencing our first family trip to Crete in April we feel like we have unfinished business with Greek Island holidays. And with 227 inhabited (and 6,000 uninhabited) islands to explore, I doubt we’d ever be done! This got me thinking about the many ways there must be to explore these incredible destinations nestled in the Aegean and Ionian Seas. If you are planning your 2020 holiday already then read on for inspiration about the best package holidays to Greece with kids.

Keeping things simple, but by no means dull, here are some of the best Greek Island package holidays for families in 2020, including all-inclusive hotels, self-catering villas and cruise holidays. Which would you choose?
Greek Island all-inclusive hotels for families
Kiani Beach Resort in Crete
We couldn’t have asked for a better family hotel in Crete for our first trip to the Greek Islands. Kiani Beach Resort is a 4 star all-inclusive resort geared towards kids. It’s less than an hour transfer from Chania Airport and is right on a blue flag beach.
As well as being able to take a dip in the sea and enjoy water sports right in front of the hotel, there are two swimming pools and two toddler splash pools.
Our girls loved the kids clubs and the evening entertainment. Plus, there is an excellent selection of rooms to accommodate families, and interconnecting apartments for larger family groups.
We had a great time exploring the Chania region in western Crete too. Here’s some of the things to do in Chania that we can recommend. And, if you are planning on hiring a car, here’s our guide to driving in Crete.

Here are some more family-friendly hotels in the Greek Islands:
Hotel Louis Zante Beach in Zante
This 4 star all-inclusive hotel in Zante is in an awesome location on the island’s longest beach. It also has a kids’ pool and kids’ club, plus a dedicated children’s section in the buffet restaurant. Your little ones will also have the choice of two play areas and sports like tennis and volleyball.

Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes
If only 5 star will do then this all-inclusive holiday village in Rhodes is a top choice for families. There’s four outdoor pools, one indoor and a kids’ pool complete with waterslides and an adventure park.
If you have teens keen to make friends then they’ll love getting to know other young holidaymakers while doing activities like football, volleyball and the aerial adventure course.

Holiday Village Atlantica Kos
This 4 star all inclusive holiday village in Kos is jam-packed with activities for families, with an entertainment programme, HV Clubs and three pools. On top of that, it’s right by the beach and a 15 minute walk from the centre of Marmari.
You’ll also be spoilt for choice for food as the restaurants serve a wide selection of dishes from traditional Greek cuisine to kiddie pleasing American fare.

Cruises around the Greek Islands in 2020
Please check with cruise lines for latest information regarding cruises in 2020.
We love cruising and have a Caribbean cruise coming up in 2020. However, another destination on our cruise bucket list is the Eastern Mediterranean. Cruises out of Venice regularly stop in the Greek Islands allowing you to get a taste of more than one in the space of one or two weeks.
Imagine being able to tick off more than one of these amazing places to visit in Greece in one holiday!
Here are some family-friendly cruises in May half term and the 2020 summer school holidays that have caught my eye:

If you fancy sticking to the Aegean and Ionian Seas, then seven days on MSC Lirica allows you to step ashore on three Greek Islands: Santorini, Crete and Kefalonia. There’s also a chance for excursions in Spilt and Bari.
The ship sails from and returns to Venice. You must try to make time to see the floating city while you are there. Here’s what we got up to during a day in Venice with kids.

Greek Island Villas for families
If you prefer holidaying at your own pace then a villa holiday in the Greek Isles could be the perfect answer. Even better if it comes with its own pool where you can hang out as a family and enjoy sundowners after the kids have gone to bed.
James Villas have plenty of options for Greek Island holidays including villas by the beach, villas with hot tubs and ones that are perfect for babies and toddlers. There are too many options to list them all, so why not search for your perfect villa holiday in Greece.
Have I whetted your appetite for one or more Greek Island holidays in 2020? I’d love to hear what you have planned.
