Next year Mr Tin Box and I will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and we’ve always said we want to make it a special occasion. After we got married we went on the most wonderful two week honeymoon in the USA and Mexico, which combined relaxation with plenty of sightseeing. So, wouldn’t it be a great idea to mark our decade of married life with another epic holiday and maybe bring along some of our family and friends to help us celebrate?
have asked me to indulge myself in a bit of daydreaming about what that getaway might look like. So, I’ve had the wonderful task of imagining where I’d like to stay from their choice of luxurious villas across Europe. Each one comes with everything we could need for a holiday to remember including great locations, pools and family-friendly facilities.
Well, I’ve felt like a kid in a sweet shop! And, having never been good at stopping at just one delicious treat, I’ve picked five amazing Mediterranean pads that stand out to me as being villas ideal for special occasions.

European villas ideal for special occasions
Villa Caribia, Agios Stefanos, Corfu
Interiors are a big deal for me when I’m choosing somewhere to holiday and Villa Caribia’s are modern and vibrant. Step out on the the shady terrace and there’s a private heated pool and views of the sea and countryside in which I could lose myself for hours. On days when we could drag ourselves and the kids away from the pool there’s the beach 20 minutes walk down the road.
What makes Villa Caribia ideal for special occasions: seven bedrooms; indoor and outdoor dining areas; and there are restaurants close by for special dinners out.
Villa Renate, Cala Galdana, Menorca
If you’re holidaying with a family group no one is going to deny that space is important. Villa Renate offers plenty both indoors and out. It has large grounds for the children to run around and living areas upstairs and downstairs for adults to relax in peace. There’s also a gated, heated pool to keep our younger holiday makers safe. The villa is set in the countryside but a beach is still only three miles away, perfect for a day trip.
What makes Villa Renate ideal for special occasions: six bedrooms; lots to do locally including waterparks and a zoo; and the resort of Cala Galdana is close by.
Villa Jan Mari Elen, Polis, Cyprus
Here’s a villa that would be perfect for a smaller gathering, yet superbly styled and in a fabulous location. Villa Jan Mari Elen would give us wonderful views across the Akamas National Park towards the sea. Outside there is a stunning pool, a raised pergola and BBQ area that I can imagine would be the perfect place for a celebratory meal. Even better, a short drive away are the untouched beaches in Argaka and Pomos – it sounds like paradise. Further a field, there’s plenty of family activities to try out in Cyprus, from horse riding to wildlife parks and World Heritage sites. We would be spoilt for choice.
What makes Villa Jan Mari Elen ideal for special occasions: sleeps up to seven people; stunning accommodation; plenty of beaches and places to eat close by.
Villa Emelisse, Fiskardo, Kefalonia
We love days at the beach and Villa Emelisse has the ideal location to give us a chance to dip our toes in the Mediterranean. It’s just 200 yards away from the sand and clear waters of Kefalonia’s north coast. The villa also has its own heated swimming pool and BBQ area. A few minutes drive away is the historic labour town of Fiskardo. From here you can hire a boat to explore the coastline and its hidden coves. This would be a must for us!
What makes Villa Emelisse ideal for special occasions: five bedrooms; large open plan living area for socialising; and it’s a few minutes drive from Fiskardo’s shops and restaurants.
Villa Mara, Kalami, Corfu
Now, this one has to be my favourite. At Villa Mara you could quite literally reach out and touch the view. It also comes with the beautiful modern interiors I love and is only 10 minutes walk from the beach and eateries of Kalami. The villa layout is like a family home with open plan living down stairs – perfect for socialising with your group – and bedrooms upstairs making the most of the wonderful vista. There’s also the option to hire a boat and visit the island’s waterparks close by. I doubt I’d want to leave!
What makes Villa Mara perfect for a family celebration: five bedrooms; a large undercover BBQ area; and if you wanted to invite all your friends to holiday with you there’s Villas Mary Lou and Anastasia right next door.
So those are my top villas ideal for special occasions from the Villa Plus collection, which is your favourite?

We celebrate our 10th year of being married next year too. These places look lovely. Of course Jamie would have to come as well. I think it will have to be something pretty amazing. We loved our family holiday in Corfu last year, such beautiful scenery and stunning blue sea

It looks ideal, right?! I can just imagine waking up to that view, taking a dip in the pool and heading out to lunch at a local restaurant. Perfect!
