Tin Box Tot loves talking about farm animals and tractors. In fact, she is a little bit tractor obsessed. So when we found ourselves pitched up right next door to Manor Farm in Hampshire last weekend we would have been failing in our parenting duties not to pay it a visit. Manor Farm is where…
Mr Tin Box loves acting like a big kid under the pretence of entertaining the girls. So it was no surprise that when we visited the New Forest and had the opportunity to go crabbing at Lymington Harbour he jumped at the chance. Lymington is a market town popular with sailors, cyclists and walkers. It’s also a great…
We have a small hangover from our days before kids – a shiny two-seater convertible. It’s Mr Tin Box’s pride and joy but not very practical for transporting a toddler, baby and medium-sized dog. We have discussed getting a more useful second car – for about two seconds. Mr TB won’t be parted from his…
We are big fans of the New Forest and lucky enough to live within an hour’s drive of it in Hampshire. During most of our visits we enjoy walks either in the numerous forest inclosures where you can see New Forest ponies, deer and pigs roaming free or along its 40 miles of coastline…
Tin Box Tot loves the great outdoors and in the past few weeks she’s wanted to explore it even more. It may be the wintery weather that’s captured her attention or just a desire to be a bit more independent as she approaches the grand old age of two, but when we visited the Forest…
Before Christmas rudely gatecrashes our every waking moment, I thought I’d give a final word to autumn. A part from some inevitable wash out days, autumn is ideal for getting out and about. We’re really lucky to live on the Hampshire coast, so interesting dog and toddler friendly walks are never far from our front…
Longdown Activity Farm on the edge of the New Forest is a great place to head for farmyard fun with young children. Here’s what you need to know before you visit.
I enjoy art, but I’m ashamed to say I can’t remember the last time I went to an exhibition. I’m not really sure why. Certainly since Tin Box Tot came along it hasn’t seemed like an appropriate activity. The squeals of a toddler are hardly the perfect accompaniment to a collection of oil paintings. However,…
I was lucky enough to be invited along to the launch of Fareham Art Trail (23-30 August 2014). It’s a fantastic event that’s making art more accessible to my town in Hampshire and the wider community. Considering its a volunteer run project there’s an amazing number of things to do during the Trail, from visiting…
Toot toot! There’s nothing like the promise of a train ride to get kids and bigger kids all excited. That was just one of the activities on our agenda when we parked Tin Box close to Moors Valley Country Park on the Hampshire-Dorset border. Our weekend home was Grundy’s Farm Camping and Caravan site, not far…
