We went to our local hospital for Tin Box Tot’s annual eye check up this week.
She was born with what I can only describe as an extra eye lid. Before you get too freaked out I have to explain that it doesn’t move – it’s just a little spare flap of skin that sits in the outside corner of her right eye. Most people don’t even notice it.
Anyway, we have to pop to the Paedeatric Unit every January to check that it’s not affecting her vision. One day TBT is likely to have a little cosmetic surgery to remove it. But while she isn’t worried about it and it’s not causing any problems we’re going to avoid anything that requires a general anesthetic.
The annual check up consists of three tests over a period of about three hours. Just about enough time for any toddler to have a massive meltdown. Even I get a bit tetchy!
However, much to my surprise TBT took all the poking and prodding in her stride and didn’t even make a fuss when the nurse put painful drops in her eyes to dilate her pupils.
She was an angel…that is, until I attempted to capture the evidence on camera. At this point she tried to snatch my iPhone and there was a bit of a struggle.
This isn’t exactly the proof of good behaviour that I was after!
