If you want to get straight to the linky Sarah is this week’s host over at Extraordinary Chaos. If you ‘d like a taster of what Christmas and New Year had in store for the Tin Box family then read on. Oh, and don’t miss out on the favourite posts Lisa and I picked from December below! There were some corkers!
What have we been up to?
Camping in sub zero temperatures…would you? That’s exactly what we did at @caalmcamp (#ad) this weekend and we loved it! . Our accommodation was a traditionally built Mongolian yurt with a wood burning stove to keep us toasty warm. It was beautiful. Outside we had a fire pit which we sat around at night toasting marshmallows and spotting shooting stars in the glittering skies above. . Caalm Camp has six yurts, each with their own private wet room in communal facility block equipped with a shared kitchen and dining/living room. Perfect for a winter camping break will all the frills! I’ll be writing a full review on the blog soon! ⛺️ ⛺️ ⛺️ ⛺️ #Adventure #familytravelblog #familytravel #familytravelmoment #tinboxdorset #kidstravel #tblogger #camping #glamping #Dorset #yurt #CaalmCamp #traveldiary #travelphoto #travelpics #myfamilyadventures #ftb100 #trips100 #writetotravel #visitdorset #travelawesome #travelinspiration #welivetoexplore #ilovetravel
Check out the determined look on Tot’s face during a spin around the kids’ race track at Haynes International Motor Museum last weekend 😂 I think we have a mini Lewis Hamilton in the making! . Mr TB is a big car fan so it was his idea to go to the UK’s largest collection of motor vehicles which is based in Somerset. But we were pleasantly surprised by how much there was for the girls to see and do too. They loved the play area, spotting toy versions of some of the vintage cars and designing the paint job for a mini. The cafe is also very family-friendly. Road trip! We’re on our way from Devon to Hampshire for a few days. On route we stopped here at Kingston Lacy to stretch everyone’s legs. Road trips with kids are always more bearable with interesting intervals. Don’t you agree? . Kingston Lacy was once home to the renowned Egyptologist William John Bankes. Have a scroll for more pictures from the gardens including one of the Philae obelisk. In the early 1800s Bankes acquired this 6.5m high obelisk from the Temple of Isis on the River Nile. It dates from about 150BC and was built on the Isle of Philae in honour of King Ptolemy. . After being brought to the UK in 1821, the six tonne obelisk played an important role in deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphs. There are two faint inscriptions in the granite tower – one in hieroglyphs and another in ancient Greek. This helped historians translate the Egyptian on this obelisk and at numerous other sites. . #Familydayout #ukexplore #ukdaysout #familyfun #adventureswithchildren #tinboxdorset #travelmomentswithkids #familytravel #familytravelblog #explorerkids #welivetoexplore #tinytravels #ftb100 #ilovetravel #ukftb #trips100 #winter #instatravel #nationaltrust #KingstonLacy #Dorset #Wimborne #historichouse #exploringfamilies #takeyourkidseverywhere
Our glamping weekend at Caalm Camp was definitely a late highlight of our year. For a bit more of a taster of what it was like check out my YouTube video:
On to Monday Escapes…
Monday Escapes is all about looking back at wonderful, happy travel memories and sharing them with others. It doesn’t have to be about a trip abroad or even be a written post. If you want to share your favourite snapshots – whether it’s a famous sight, scene, dramatic view or even a favourite family photo, then please feel free to link those up, too. Likewise, posts don’t have to be about holidays or weekends away, they can also include day trips, walks, attractions – any travel experience that you want to share.
We are also absolutely delighted to link up with Lonely Planet to offer our number one favourite blog post of the fortnight either a destination guide, or a title from the Lonely Planet Kids range. (See T&C’s below). Just another great reason to link up with Monday Escapes!
What’s in it for you?
The number one thing is you’ll be sharing your fantastic posts with a like-minded community and grabbing some travel inspiration for yourself. As a bonus you have a chance to have your blog post featured on all four of the hosts’ blogs each fortnight, introducing your blog to even more people.
Our favourite posts from last time
Lisa loves this rather humorous, and very honest, article featuring visiting Rome in the summer with kids. It sure does look and sound very hot!
Lisa also absolutely adores the photos in Nano’s article featuring a day at a wine estate in New Zealand. The photos of the delicacies she captured by camera before delving into will have your mouth watering! Take a look for yourself…..
And lastly I wish I had the stomach I used to for rollercoasters. Ava from My Meena Life has done a great review of the coasters at Bush Gardens Williamsburg. Check out her scoring system – love it!
To find out who we have chosen as the winner of the Lonely Planet guide see Sarah’s post.
So how do you join in this time?
* Link up one post/photo – old or new using the InLinkz tool. **Sarah is our host this week over at Extraordinary Chaos.**
* Please make sure to include the Monday Escapes badge at the bottom of the post, on your site, or a link back to the hosts.
* Posts are anything travel-related, and can include photos, reviews, days out, attractions and walks – at home or abroad.
* Comment on posts by the co-hosts and at least two others. Blog hops only work if you share the comment love. That’s why they’re so great!
* If you tweet any of us your links @minitravellers @sarahjchristie @tinboxtraveller or @travellovinfam, please use #MondayEscapes and we
will be sure to retweet.
Monday Escapes will go live every two weeks, alternating between the hosts and will be open Monday to Wednesday. Every fortnight we will be giving a shout out to some of our favourite posts and photos.
There is also a Monday Escapes Pinterest Board – so if you’d like to start pinning some of your favourite photos, do get in touch.
