Hide and seek at the Forest of Bere

Tin Box Tot loves the great outdoors and in the past few weeks she’s wanted to explore it even more.

It may be the wintery weather that’s captured her attention or just a desire to be a bit more independent as she approaches the grand old age of two, but when we visited the Forest of Bere recently she refused her pushchair.
Up until then we had been taking it along on walks just in case she tired. But this time we decided to take a risk and leave it in the car.
The Forest of Bere is near the beautiful little market town of Wickham. There’s a couple of car parks around the forest and we usually go for the West Walk as it has a loo and two adventure play grounds.
There’s often a little van serving coffees, cakes and sandwiches as well – although when we visited between Christmas and New Year it was on holiday.
West Walk is made up of 350 hectares of the remaining part of the Forest of Bere and is used by dog walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

Tin Box Dog loves the Forest of Bere – there’s always lots of other dogs for her to make friends with and she can run through the trees like a loon to her heart’s content.

I think the Tot must have been inspired by TBD as she also wanted to go off the beaten track and explore the trees. So Mr Tin Box – the big kid – thought it might be fun to a play hide and seek.

We’re going to have to give TBT some tuition on the finer points of the game as she wasn’t very good at finding trees big enough to hide behind!

However, she was having so much fun that we didn’t miss the pushchair at all. She asked Mr TB for a ride on his shoulders a few times when we hit a hilly section but generally wanted to go under her own steam.

My little girl is growing up fast!

I know, the urge to hibernate is strong with me too. We're not out every day, I promise, but it does help to blow away the cobwebs! I must pop back to your blog post as I tried to comment, but it kept failing. Fingers crossed it's fixed now!

Thank you. Fresh air is great. We like to get out as much as we can when the rain stops this time of year :)
